Guess as many times as you like! Your first guess is free, but extra guesses are $5 each. If your guess is closest to the real weight, then you win a prize! You can pick either a selection of British foods or some Oxford apparel (details provided to the winner). If there is a tie, then we will pick the winner randomly among the closest guessers.

Advice for new parents
Learned something the hard way? Pass it on. Heads up that your advice will be visible to all (use the next section if you'd like to send us a private message instead).
* Get some enjoyable books on an e-reader (easier to hold when trapped by a sleeping baby) * Earplugs and white noise for sleep when you're not on baby duty * Newborns look grumpy but if they’re not crying it means they’re perfectly happy * You will never regret having too many photos and videos * You will only later realize when you have an angelic, chubby 9-month-old that your perfect newborn actually looked like ET * Do something just for yourself every day * Most of the decisions you’re agonizing over don’t actually matter much, just try not to drop them on their head * Being a parent gets way more fun once your baby learns to giggle

Don’t let them use your good set of calipers until they’re at least 6 months old

I don't have children, only needy animals, so my advice is probably no good here- Crate training: probably ill advised. Don't recommend fetch or biscuits either. You could try the squeezy eye trick to show affection but I think that's only good for cats. Belly rubs might be ok.

Don't make Arolyn get up in the night: Any sort of night time wake up, Jacob should get up and go deal with it, and bring the kid to Arolyn in bed for nursing. My parents recommended this, and we did it, and I can't recommend it enough. Arolyn has to deal with being pregnant, and is going to have to breastfeed (assuming that works out, some people it just doesn't, and that's fine), the least Jacob can do is be the one who gets up in the night. This has a couple of benefits: Separates feeding from night time comforting. Helps share the effort more equally. It can be easy for the dad to just default to less help because they can't breastfeed (and all the other social conditioning). Caveat is that if Jacob has a really hard time going back to sleep after waking up (and Arolyn doesn't), then this probably makes less sense.

Tali’s advice (she defaults to she/her pronouns when talking about babies): Feed the baby and get her the sleep in her crib and put her to sleep and help her go to sleep and then they take the baby out and put them in a crib and rock her and take care of the baby.
