This is a private “baby pool” — a small guessing game run by one family for their friends and relatives while they wait for a baby to arrive. Guests sign in, claim a date range, guess the birth weight, and leave a note. This page explains what the site stores to make that work.
Who runs the site
The site is operated personally by the family running this Baby Pool. It is not a company and there is no commercial purpose. There is no advertising, no analytics or tracking pixels, and your information is never sold or shared for marketing.
What is collected
- Your account. When you sign in with Google, the site receives and stores your name, email address, and profile picture URL from your Google account, plus the tokens Google issues so the sign-in works. If you register with an email and password instead, it stores your email, your name if you give one, and a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself).
- What you do in the pool. The date ranges you claim, your birth-weight guesses, any advice note you post to the public guestbook, and any short note you attach to a claim. Advice notes are shown publicly on the site next to your name.
- Messages you send. If you use the “message to the parents” form or the “tell me when the baby arrives” form, the name, email, and message you enter are stored and emailed to the site owner.
- A sign-in cookie. One cookie that keeps you logged in. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
The site never asks for or handles payment information. Buy-ins are settled directly between you and the host (for example over Venmo or PayPal); no money passes through this site and it has no card or bank details.
How Google sign-in data is used
Information received through “Sign in with Google” is used only to create and identify your account on this site — to show your name on the board, contact you about the pool, and grant the host admin access. It is not used for any other purpose, not transferred to anyone else, and not used for advertising. Google’s handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Who it’s shared with
Nobody, except the service providers that run the site on the owner’s behalf:
- Vercel — hosting for the website.
- Neon — the database where the information above is stored.
- Google — sign-in, if you choose that option.
- Resend — delivers the site’s emails (password resets, and forwarding the messages you send through the forms).
Information may also be disclosed if required by law. Your data is not transferred or sold to anyone else.
How long it’s kept
Information is kept while the pool is active and for a short time afterwards as a keepsake, then deleted. You can ask for your account and everything tied to it to be removed at any time, and it will be.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, or to have the site stop using it.
- You can remove this app’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
- You can delete a public advice note yourself, or ask the host to.
Children
The pool is about a baby, but it’s meant for adult friends and family. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Contact
For any request or question about your information, use the message form on the home page. It goes straight to the site owner.
